Composed by Zahra Khimji
There is no salvation these tears have become ice
and these eyes have become blind
I'm trying to reach you but I think that my hand has fallen short
yet again
I think I'm falling but I don't know where
I'm not sure I should stand up
These feet are bound
I'm scared to try and lift them
You see I thought
that I could undo what I did
that I could unwind the coils that I hold woven
around these feet
they're tied you see
I'm scared
What should one like me do when there is no salvation
So I lie here
the wind is making me feel cold
There's a hushed silence
The trees are singing their mourning song
they see my plight
yet these feet don't move
I'm afraid this is the last straw
I'm bound
No where could I possibly untangle the thorns that have made marks
on this flawless skin
I see you but there is nothing
You're like a Mona Lisa, hanging, admirable, untouchable
Pure beauty that is unscathed.
