She cried as the morning sun gazed meekly,
peering on the streets of madina - illuminating the cloudless sky.
then ... she could hear her child moaning silently,
as the poison cut through his heart.
its needle sensation she could feel,
as her darling rolled over his mattress.
she saw the tear enfolding his saga of loneliness - escape,
her beloved was now hungry for love.
how she wished to be present by his side,
to place his head on her lap.
to read him what she oft read,
when cradling him off to sleep.
she saw her zainab - her living legacy,
sit by his side, weeping from inside.
she saw what zainab had not seen,
the clot of liver on the water basin.
fatima - father's darling donot cry,
the angels grow restless with your tears.
the pillars of the throne tremble as you mourn,
the heaven weeps along side you.
a sigh escaped her wounded chest,
as fatima held onto her broken ribs,
my hassan, my hassan, my lonely hassan...
